State of the SkatePark Effort

This January Meeting of the Northside Community Council, I stood up and gave my honest take on how things are going. Here is a bullet list of things I put out there..

Team Members:
* Lora Jost: Grant Researcher/Grant Writer
* Bill Williams III: Lifelong Northsider/Purveyor of Fine Coffees
* Pippin Rush: Local Resident/Former Sponsored Skateboarder
* Lew Ross: Skateboarding Industry Consultant/Advocate

Process State:

1. We await the final plan of ODOT, which will present us with our final form of the plot at Virginia/Colerain.
2. exploring grant options.
3. two petition drives for the Spring.
4. We have obtained a proper drawing from a professional skatepark design firm. This drawing is only a preliminary sketch. Our final form will reflect a comprehensive planning process
5. We have a working website.
6. The Northside Skatepark Effort has been granted Committee status, enabling us to raise funds under the 501(c)3 status of the Community Council
7. We have obtained Committee Coalescence, and a good set of strengths have come together. We are approaching a healthy balance for action.

Goals:
With the present surge in popular understanding of the immense benefits that skateboarding presents to youth and adults in our neighborhood, along with a rational comparison to towns like Louisville, KY, which has already built a skatepark that costed 1,000,000.00 dollars, we are shooting for at least a 300,000 dollar skatepark here.

This spring will be a time of PR and fundraising.
